BALANCING GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY AND COMMUNICATIVE FLUENCY THROUGH CLT AND THE GRAMMAR-TRANSLATION METHOD

This article deals with the use of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Grammar-Translation Method (GTM) as a way of maintaining grammatical correctness and communicative fluency in English language classes. The research highlights the instructional relevance of precise grammatical explanations, translation exercises, interactive discussions and corrected feedback. A model of a practical lesson is given to show how learners are able to acquire grammatical information in the course of meaningful conversation. Emphasis is placed on the importance of instructor feedback, peer interaction and reflective learning. This essay reviews the benefits and drawbacks of integrated education and offers suggestions for a balanced teaching strategy in university EFL courses.
